How to get your YouTube Channel started

April 13, 2018 Uncategorized

YouTube is one of the most successful businesses in the world and vlogging is fast becoming the number one marketing technique in 2018. Not only have YouTube created something massively popular, it’s now a location where people market and grow their business online.

Social media is flooded with people painting our screens with content. Reaching people all over the globe by simply recording themselves and uploading videos to an online platform for the world to see. Vlogs can be seen by anyone, anywhere, anytime. Once that upload button is hit, content is completely in the public eye.

For some, this can be terrifying.

Many people have huge fears about social media and the judgement that comes with it. They worry that their content is crap, that people won’t enjoy it and worst of all, others might post negative comments about what has been posted.

What I have to say to you is

You’re not doing it for those people. Your content is for the people that care.

Putting yourself out there on social media can be a huge challenge. We often think of the ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ – “What if people don’t like it?”, “But people might judge me”. Sometimes it’s even just as hard to overcome the concept of others seeing you on camera doing your thing. Having insecurities like this is normal and trust me, it does get easier.

Some things we do in life aren’t easy. If we go into something thinking that the result will not be positive, we’re far more likely to fail.

To post a Vlog, we must think people WILL like this and the people that don’t like it, don’t matter.

So how can you start your own Vlog?

One of the best parts about this process is that creating your YouTube channel is completely free! It’s as simple as signing up and designing your channel. Creating something to suit your own business or startup can be difficult, just be yourself and put yourself out there.

After you’ve created your channel and you’ve posted a few videos, it’s time to start promoting!

Post, post and post

Add links to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. Every social media platform you have, post to them! Begin sending direct links to people you think would be interested. It’s all about the hustle these days. You can’t just post a video and think,  “Yup, that’s it, my job is done”. When you have zero subscribers, the odds of someone coming across your video at random would be next to nothing.

Success doesn’t happen overnight and everything takes time.  Don’t expect to hit one million subscribers a week after you’ve created your channel.

The more time and effort you put into your channel, the more success you will gain.

Provide Value

What do you have to offer your subscribers that other people don’t? Why do people search for things on YouTube?

You must have something of value to provide to your viewers. Important information, a tutorial, humour. If people watch your video and you’ve provided them with nothing, they’re not going to subscribe and your channel won’t grow.

Think about what you have to offer people, the talent you have to show and share that with the world. Don’t be afraid of what people say and just be yourself. You’ve got this.
